Lakeland, the largest and youngest city in the county, was fondly names for its many lakes and is renowned for its natural beauty. Florida Southern College, on the shores of Lake Hollingsworth, boasts the world's largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright-designed architecture. Cultural opportunities abound, such as the Polk Museum of Art, Imperial Symphony Orchestra, and the Polk Theatre. The nationally recognized Lakeland Center has hosted the nation's top entertainers, ballet troops, Broadway plays, and the Miss USA Pageant. The center is also the training venue for the Tampa Bay Lightning, a national Hockey League franchise.
